We've finally made our big transition over to the main RP hub of Omrazir! Big thanks to all of you who have stuck with us through this journey and been such awesome and helpful players over the last almost two years. :)
We hope everyone enjoys exploring Omrazir and getting their characters settled into life in the big city. There is however a ton of development work still to do there, some of it consisting of more basic things that should happen over the next several weeks, and some of it much bigger stuff that will be added and implemented on a correspondingly longer timeframe.
Just to help orient people to some of what's out there now:
* There are currently five lodging options in Omrazir. One is on the docks, one is in Dawn, one is in Dusk, one is in the White City, and one is along the Via Magna. The Via Magna one is what you'll see if you use DIR LODGINGS.
* There is one codedly functioning bank, also near the docks. DIR BANK will get you there. To start an account, just DEPOSIT your money there. (Thanks to everyone last night who could actually remember this!)
* There is one courier stall for sending messages, near the Bazaar of Nine Winds, and also a place to buy writing materials inside the bazaar (because everyone needs to write things and all problems can be solved through writing). More courier locations will hopefully be added soon.
* There are several different kinds of jobs scattered around the city. Currently the best place to look for a job is in the Bazaar of Nine Winds on the south side of the city, or the Hall of Good Governance in the northwest. A few others are just outside of the south gate in the Plainview District. I actually have quite a few more jobs written up that I just need to add around town in the next few days.
* There are lots of places to eat and drink! Huuuuuuuge thanks to everyone who contributed food and drink items for Omrazir; that was a massive help and it was really fun to see what people wrote. There are even some that haven't been added to the game yet!
Buuut, alas, there many things yet to do.
As we go ahead, you can expect that relatively big additions like opening a whole new shop or neighborhood will be announced, ICly or OOCly or both. All the many, many smaller things I'll likely just be dropping in continually without notice, so if you keep an eye out you may see a lot of new little things pop up -- new interactable room items, sensory descriptions, day/night/seasonal changes, individual shop items, menu items, etc.
"Scenery"
While walking around the city, you'll definitely see a lot of things that are currently just "part of the scenery" -- they're mentioned in the room description, but they're not something you can actually LOOK at, interact with, or go inside. More interiors and, again, room objects are going to be pretty much continually added as an ongoing project. More neighborhoods will also be added, though these are lower priority for the moment.
If you find any rooms that don't have a desc at all, please typo it!! Two that I'm aware of are the Dockmaster's building and the top landing of the Elucidarium steps. I didn't have time to run around to all the rooms in Omrazir and check that I hadn't left placeholder rooms here and there, so if there are more just report them. Also some of Omrazir is OLD (by Avaria standards) and things may have gotten broken over the course of countless code updates. If you find any actual room objects like benches that seem like you should be able to interact with them, but you get a message that you can't, please typo that too. It's an easy fix.
Shops
This is in the saddest, saddest place at the moment. It takes a really long time to put in shops, and I failed miserably. I AM SO SORRY. Putting in basic shop items is high priority, but it will still take a little while even to get this to St. Loomis (barbarian backwater!) levels. In the meantime, ICly you can assume the bazaar is filled with goods, although not so many as usual due to Story Stuff to be posted shortly. More importantly, if there is anything your character truly needs, or would *definitely* go out and buy first thing on arriving back in Omrazir, please send me an OOCmail about it and I will try to make sure you get that thing. I might also try to run a couple of mini-RPTs for NPC merchants to make some custom orders too.
Outdoor Areas/Resources
Currently there are three different routes that people can wander outside the city on. Pretty high priority here is to build the actual Sidi Mircasset Oasis area, at least on a basic level. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure I did something to break foraging when adding new plants (it will not be the first time.....) so I need to try to figure out in what exact way I broke things so that people can actually successfully forage again. I also still need to build a mine so people can go get themselves crushed to death in mines again. Oh, and to actually mine ore, that too.
PC Stories
I definitely encourage people to get acquainted with Omrazir and settle in to start off with, but I know everyone has stories they're interested in pursuing. This is a great time to update story arcs, archive old ones, and start new ones! Obviously not all of these should need staff attention, but if there are things you're interested in making happen with the help of staff please feel free to send an OOCmail about them or submit a story attention request. Just keep in mind that it may take a little while to address them, since there's still a lot of basic development to do. Also it may help speed a response to indicate in a comment what sort of things you're most interested in having happen -- not necessarily in a lot of detail, but just to give us some ideas of what we can do that you'll find most enjoyable or rewarding.
World Stories
These will continue to progress, and PCs should have a chance to meet some new NPCs or interact with existing ones as I have time. I like RPing okay!!!!! It's fun to interact with you all and having fun keeps me motivated too. :)
Queries
If there are NPCs you know you would like some kind of interaction with, don't be afraid to submit a query. Again, I may not always get to it right away, but it will be on my radar and I'll address these as I have time.
Multiple Characters
I'm sure everyone is excited to be able to roll up another character!! Technically you can do this right now, but there's a little work P and I need to do on chargen (such as the fact that new characters will still end up in St. Loomis on approval 😱). One caveat: Since most of the heritages still don't have sufficient lore to be genuinely playable (and in fact some aren't even fully set up code-wise yet) we're going to be keeping these limited for a while yet. You should be able to roll up all the previously available heritages plus Bissenke. That's still a lot!!!
