Lag

Lag 1 of 8

I noticed that we started getting some larger spikes around about the time when the Omraziar guard patrols were introduced (not necessarily causation, could just be a coincidence in timing). Either I'm tripping or it seems to be getting worse lately, and has been particularly bad the past few days to a week. Today I've been logged in for around two hours and have already twice had the game lag so hard on an input that I expected a full server crash.

Once, I think, was caused by my use of the 'eavesdrop' command. It seems if you try to use that without a proper name, the game lags very badly. But I just used 'eavesdrop about today' which is a valid use case, so... I'm not sure.

All this could of course be unrelated, I'm just trying to put forward any information that might be useful to diagnosing and resolivng the issue. Has anybody else noticed anything that might be related to the lag spikes?

For more than 24hours now commands from my character have been ignored. However, commands sent before submitting "play hassan" work fine.

Edit: I just checked again and this situation continues.

I noticed it heavily on the 26th to start (Or was online then to notice) and a few times I have also thought it was a full server crash but wasn't. I haven't noticed it tied to specific things, though eavesdrops will really tank things for lag if there isn't a proper name.

Hey pofHassan, try logging into Hassan and inputting STOP or CANCEL by themselves to see if that helps! Sometimes a character seems to get stuck in a 'channeling' state, as though you've used an ability and the cooldown never ends.

There was a while where using "eavesdrop about reputation of <name>" with <name> being either a typo/not a real character or the name of a character in a different zone would cause literally 18 minutes of hang time/lag before it would go through. Now that is down to about a minute forty these days by my last count, so something got fixed or massively improved there but it's perhaps not yet 100% streamlined. I don't believe it's related to the general lag, personally, because the fix (from 18 minutes to 1:40) came in before the guards - just for reference/information. I could well be wrong, just offering another data point.

I've definitely felt the lag the last few days is worse, though I have no solid data or anything - just been having a tooon of long slowdowns, seemingly not linked to specific commands. Will keep an eye out to see if I notice anything systematic, though!
