All right, here we go!

A few thought etc. about character creation, first:

  • Something in the header info when you're choosing backgrounds that says "Select an origin to view more information about it" or something along those lines would have been extremely helpful. I looked at the list and then spent twenty minutes sifting vainly through the wiki trying to find info on all of the options, only to discover when I just picked one at random that the info was available right on the page. xD
  • Also, Ifru and Tessere have the same info description. I assume one of them is supposed to be different.
  • On the stat assignment page, some sort of tooltip that gives a couple examples of what you use the stats for would have been super helpful, along with a brief description of how or whether you can change them through gameplay.
  • Choosing a background-boosted skill should imo be on the same page as choosing your innate skills, so you know that you're going to get to choose both when you pick your skills.

And so far, for ingame, it says to type help for more commands but if you do that, it just tells you to ask for help on gamehelp, which is a little confusing. I finally found that there is a typo command, though, which is what I was originally coming here to suggest. xD

Another bit of game feedback: it was extremely difficult to figure out how to leave the starting area, since there's no table of contents for the help files to actually find the right help file. I did finally think to try help movement but not until I'd already bumbled about for a while and stumbled on the "go <direction>" command.

Oh, a couple other pieces of character creation notes I have which I forgot to include in the first post!

  • The "You have no more points to add". error on the stat-setting screen, if you try to increase a stat but have no points free, does weird things to the table positioning.

  • The auto-generated biography has some weird article and spacing issues, I assume from the way it's filling in the variables.

Much less important suggestion than most of this, but a shrug social would be nice. (I don't know why games never seem to have this one... xD)

Generally the commands which are affected by balance and those which aren't seems to make sense, but abilities is unusable when off-balance, which seems odd since it's not an in-game action.

Playing around with combat. Typed 'flee' and got:

"Combat OOC: -Writing Break- Evading hostility, you succeeded in escaping the altercation."

Great! I succeeded! But I tried to leave  and got:

Private Combat OOC: You can't just move, you're in the middle of a fight. Try to flee first.
> flee
Private Combat OOC: You will try to flee.
Combat OOC: The fight will resume in twenty seconds.

Private Combat OOC: You will try to flee.

Private Combat OOC: You are free to go.

 

So either something's wonky there or I'm confused ...

Oh! And a bigger issue, but one I'm sure you know, is that 'gamehelp' doesn't work for me.

When you run away from a fight, there's a writing break -- that's like a forced pause -- so that people have a chance to write an emote during a safe phase before actually evacuating the room. But it does need to be portrayed better, and right now combat is pretty buggy, so we'll appreciate any input and ideas thrown in about it. If you have suggestions or ideas for things to work differently, that's super great too. To find combat, you can fight anyone else, or find the gladiator NPC in the arena area and use the weapons in the weaponrack there. Writing breaks are somewhat shorter if it's just you and an NPC fighting. Someone suggested putting in some armors too, so I'll probably do that soon. 

 

And gamehelp... I think the problem is that by default, people aren't subscribed to it. You can SUB  GAMEHELP to subscribe, I think, and I'll set it up so new accounts are default subscribed. Thanks! Don't forget to also use the bug command to report problems you find, and that way you get XP for them too (at least in this phase of development).

There's a ghostly gladiator up a ramp somewhere ...? Not really sure where. I'm just wandering around enjoying the descriptions!

And yeah, I hadn't realized I needed to subscribe to gamehelp. Could be just a me thing (so many things are) but automatically subscribing new accounts' first characters sounds wise ...
